After almost 20 years of gas production from the K6 field, Total’s reservoir engineers concluded that continued production would only be viable if the pressure in the well was increased. This would require the installation of a reciprocal booster compressor on the deck of K6P and brownfield modifications on K6CC. The compressor boosts the flow from the well, enabling us to tap into gas reserves that would otherwise be lost. A multidisciplinary project team was formed to design and implement the project. Working in close collaboration with other TEPNL departments, including operations, inspection and quality control, the project team saw the project through to a successful conclusion only 2.5 years from its conception.
